                                                    Baltimore, Md.
                                                    Dec. 10, 1937

            Dear Myrtle,

Please pardon me if I trespass too greatly upon your time, and
appear too persistent, but as I expect to be in Richmond about
December 10 on my return trip home do you think you could give me a
little outline of the Timberlake family in so far as you have it?
and have you gone any further into the Hazelgrove family history?
You know I am interested in both of these families and I am
particularly desirous of identifying the Miss Timberlake who
married John Hazelgrove, your ancestor and mine.  he was a soldier
of the Revolution and his wife is said to have been the daughter of
a Revolutionary officer.  Wasn't your ancestor, henry Timberlake, a
captain in the Revolutionary army and did John Hazelgrove marry his
daughter?  Henry Timberlake possessed considerable land in Hanover
County, and if the land records or his will could be found, it (the
will) would doubtless give the names of his children, both sons and
daughters, but as you know, so many of the both sons and daughters,
but as you know, so many of the Hanover records were destroyed by
fire in the 1860's, it may be impossible to ever gain any
            information from that source.

I know from now until Christmas will be a very busy time for
every one, so if I am asking too much of you at this time, we can
wait until after Christmas, still I feel that I am growing old and
I should like very much to collect these old family records before
the infirmities of old age overwhelm me.

On Thanksgiving we gave our thanks for a very happy week-end
just preceding the holidays.  My brother, Charlie, came down from
New York to see us.  He has been in poor health and we rejoiced to
see him looking well again.  There are still four of us living -
two sisters and two brothers - three of us were together, and we
            missed the other one, Tom.

I do hope you and Macey and all of your family are enjoying
good health, and I am wishing for you all a very happy Christmas.

Hoping to see you in Richmond, I am

                                     Cordially & sincerely yours

                                          Lula G. Auld
