My dear Cousin Ivy:
I am ashamed that no one has written to thank you for the nice meat you sent Papa.  It was the most delicious I ever tasted and I just can't tell youhow much we all enjoyed it.  Papa is so fond of hog meat and it has been 40 cts a lb for some time so you may imagine I have not been using very much.  Papa sends you very many thanks for it.  It certainly appreciated it.  Joseph had never eaten any "griskin" before and he thought it was fine.  It was so nice in you to send it.  Papa has been real well this winter & looks mighty well.  He takes so much interest in the war and enjoys reading so much.  Louise is very fond of him and sleeps with him.  I often wish you could see all three of the children.  We think they are mighty sweet.  I do wish you would come to see us some time when you come to Richmond.  It would be such a pleasure to us to see you again.

Mindy told us how comfortably you were fixed and I hope you succeeded in keeping warm that severe weather.  Fuel is very scarce and high here but I am thankful to pay we have a fairly good supply on hand.

You know I guess that Mindy has been here since before Christmas.  She seems to feel badly at times.  Is very poorly today.  She says she has been drinking to much coffee.  We are mighty glad to have her but I don't think she is as well satisfied any where as she is at Cuckoo.  I feel might sorry for her - she gets about mighty badly.  She sends her love and says she wishes you would write to her, and that she wants to go home as soon as she can.

I am anxious to buy some cracklings and she seemed to think perhaps you might have some to sell or that you would know some one who had.  I would certainly be obliged if you could let me have some or get some for me.  Just let me know the price & you send them by parcel post & I will send the money & postage.

I am going to send you a picture of the children as soon as I have some taken.  With dearest love in which all join me.

Affly yours,

Sara

Mindy says she has just recd your letter & sends thanks for it & the check. She will write.
